Glass adds a special touch to a laid table. It catches the light, adds colour and provides a subtle backdrop for the food, without the material losing its own character.
Eat-On-Bornholm’s glass plates are designed for serving and for use in the modular frame alongside wood, ceramics and Bornholm granite. Each colour and finish has its own distinctive look, but the pieces are designed to be combined.
Colours with best wishes from Bornholm
The names take your mind on a journey around the island. The Baltic Sea has the blue hue of the ocean, Opal Lake has a light and serene feel, whilst The Cliff adds a darker, more sombre tone. Kobolt No. 1 has a deep blue colour, and Bølgerne i havet brings more movement to the presentation.
You can choose the colour that suits your home, or combine several shades on the same table. As the glass tops come in different sizes, you can also create variation in their shape.
For everyday use and when entertaining guests
A smaller glass plate can be used for cheese, bread, snacks, fruit or something sweet to go with your coffee. The larger plate provides space for a complete serving and can be used on its own or as part of one of the base plates.
The glass makes it easy to change the atmosphere. A simple table setting takes on more colour, whilst a table featuring a variety of materials provides a bright contrast to the warmth of the wood and the rougher surface of the granite.
Combine glass with other materials
The glass is assembled into a warm frame on an oak base plate. Together with handmade ceramics a dynamic interplay emerges between glossy and more tactile surfaces. Next to Bornholm granite the contrast becomes more pronounced and tells the story of different materials from the same island.
You don’t have to stick to one fixed combination. The glass plates can be moved around, swapped over and used in new ways, depending on what you’re serving.
Three sizes – more options
Size 1 is long and narrow and fits on the left-hand side of the Symfoni base plate. Size 2 is the small, flexible tray, and two of them can be used together in the space where a Size 3 would otherwise be placed. Size 3 provides a larger overall serving surface and also fits into the Harmoni base tray.
This makes it possible to start with a single tile and then add to it later with different sizes or colours.
A personal choice for the table
When you choose glassware for serving, you’re not just choosing a colour. You’re also choosing how the light, the food and the other materials will interact.
